The Y Australia is a national not-for-profit organisation that has been building communities and supporting young people since 1844. Operating as a federated structure with 12 member associations across every state and territory, The Y delivers a comprehensive range of programs and services designed to help young people and communities grow, creating opportunities to make a positive difference. With over 12,000 staff and 1,500 volunteers, The Y provides safe, welcoming spaces where individuals of all ages can thrive and reach their full potential, guided by values of care, honesty, respect and responsibility.

The Y specialises in early learning and childcare services through dedicated early learning centres caring for infants and preschool-age children, working in partnership with families to ensure children thrive. The organisation delivers before and after school programs that provide fun, friendly and relaxed environments for children to build friendships, learn and explore their interests. Recreation services include sporting facilities, gymnastics and swimming programs that serve as safe and welcoming spaces for the community to get active and stay connected. Youth empowerment initiatives feature the Youth Parliament, Global Change Agent program and the WhyNot platform, putting young people front and centre to inspire and empower the next generation of leaders.

The Y operates across Australia with member associations in the Australian Capital Territory, New South Wales, Northern Territory, Queensland, South Australia, Tasmania, Victoria and Western Australia, supported by the national office based in Essendon Fields, Victoria. The organisation works in partnership with local and state government, corporates, not-for-profits and local businesses to drive positive change in communities. With over 680 facilities nationwide offering tailored programs and services, The Y is recognised as a welcoming place and safe space where every Australian can access support, build connections and contribute to making the world a better place.
