Buchanan

Buchanan is a specialist legal recruitment practice operating in the US, the UK and Europe, and the Middle East. It works with lawyers and law firms, recruiting associates, counsels and non-equity partners.

Buchanan also recruits non-lawyer professionals for law firms. These roles cover legal operations and practice management, business development, marketing and communications, human resources, talent and learning and development, finance, billing and pricing, paralegal and legal support, and AI, innovation and knowledge management.

James Baker, now chief executive, launched Buchanan in 2013 in Old Broad Street, London. The company says it is now a business of more than 70 people, working from offices just off Bermondsey Street in London and in Miami. Thomas Hanlon, an Executive Director, relocated in February 2024 to open the Miami office.
