The Sterling Group

The Sterling Group is a premier executive search and recruitment firm founded in 2007, with offices in Florida and Georgia, serving clients nationwide. The firm specialises in identifying and placing transformative leaders into high-growth organisations, private equity portfolio companies, and Fortune 500 corporations. The Sterling Group's distinctive positioning centres on deep access to exceptional executive talent, particularly former military officers, Academy graduates, and seasoned industry professionals who bring mission-driven leadership and proven results. The firm has successfully placed over 1,000 leaders across industries including manufacturing, aerospace, energy, banking and financial services, medical device, life sciences, and private equity-backed businesses.

The company offers two primary service lines: Executive Search Services, focusing on critical leadership roles including CFO, COO, GM, and VP of Operations at director level and above; and JMO Micro-Conferences, exclusive, company-specific recruiting events designed to accelerate hiring of high-performing Junior Military Officers and Academy Graduates. The firm combines deep industry knowledge, military leadership insight, and rigorous vetting to deliver candidates who drive impact from day one. Their core values emphasise passion for the work, integrity and transparency, teamwork, commitment to delivery, competition and resourcefulness, speed, and excellence as measured by placement quality and impact.

Founded and led by James Duncan, President, a West Point graduate and former Army Infantry Officer who is Airborne and Ranger qualified, The Sterling Group operates with the discipline and focus characteristic of military leadership. The firm's relationship-first approach, specialised networks across industries and military communities, and rigorous vetting process differentiate it from larger, less focused executive search competitors.
