The Right Resource

The Right Resource is a talent acquisition firm based in Los Altos, California, serving early-stage and growth-stage startup companies. Founded by John Vormbaum, who brings over 25 years of Silicon Valley experience as an entrepreneur, VP/Head of Talent, and staffing executive, the firm combines the expertise of multiple experienced recruitment professionals for a total of 50+ years combined talent acquisition experience. The company positions itself as an internal talent team partner, providing early and mid-stage startups with the full spectrum of talent acquisition functions including Head of Talent leadership, full-cycle recruiting, sourcing, interview process management, and interviewer training.

The Right Resource's fundamental insight is that in today's competitive talent market, companies without a fully functional internal talent team actively recruiting each day lose ground to competitors. Rather than serving as a temporary staffing vendor, the firm acts as an integrated extension of client companies, embedding their expertise into the client's team structure to build sustainable hiring capacity. The company recognises that startup culture and long-term growth depend on how well recruiting is executed from the outset, and that founder-level decisions about hiring set the trajectory for company success.

The firm's service model includes brand and culture building services (The Right Presence and The Right Platform), talent team construction (The Right People), and sourcing strategy (The Right Pipeline). Notably, John Vormbaum has personal experience scaling teams within portfolio companies he has served, including growing an engineering and marketing team from 25 to 85 at thredUP, and expanding another team from 85 to 529 in 2.5 years at Clover Network.
