Start to work

Start to Work is an enterprising family business that has been running since 1979 under the line Empowering people. It describes itself as known for involvement, a personal approach and quick switching, with drive, passion, ambition, entrepreneurship and a no-nonsense attitude as its basis. Four services sit side by side: uitzenden en detachering of staff, verloning and administrative support, re-integratie and guidance of jobseekers, and ZZP-bemiddeling with ongoing support for the self-employed. The site runs in Dutch, English, Polish, Russian and Ukrainian, and workers have an urenportaal for their hours, so the company is clearly set up for an international workforce.

Vacancies are grouped into the sectors the company serves: Bouw, Techniek, Infra, Productie, Industrie, Logistiek, Schoonmaak, Groenvoorziening and Finance, alongside internal roles at Start to Work itself. Candidates search by job title, sector, postcode and distance, or subscribe to a vacature-alert for a chosen region and branch. Certification is set out in full, because the company argues that working with a reliable uitzenden partner is critical: NEN-4400-1, the SNA-keurmerk, VCU, the WKA verklaring betalingsgedrag, a KVK uittreksel and a formulier inlenersbeloning. It also runs a referral scheme paying 500 euro once the person introduced has worked at least four weeks.

The company works from four offices, at Australiëweg 4 in Assen, Rigaweg 34 in Groningen, Industrieweg 44 in Nieuw-Amsterdam and Rudolf Dieselstraat in Nijverdal, and its vacancies cluster around those four towns. The process it describes starts with a personal intake at the office, in which wishes and preferences are discussed, followed by a search for a suitable role and organisation based on competencies and skills without losing sight of those preferences.
