ScandiMate is an Australian recruitment platform supplying qualified Scandinavian tradespeople to employers across Australia, New Zealand and Canada. The company operates a distinctive business model where candidates purchase work-and-travel packages (flights, White Card certification, bank account setup, accommodation on arrival, job matching) whilst employers pay a flat AUD 1,000 recruitment fee per successful placement following a four-week trial period. This structure ensures low recruitment costs whilst ensuring all candidates arrive pre-vetted, fully qualified and ready to work.

ScandiMate supplies tradespeople across 20+ trades including carpenters and joiners, electricians, plumbers, concreters and formworkers, bricklayers and blocklayers, roofers, painters, HVAC and refrigeration mechanics, welders and metal fabricators, boilermakers and specialist crafts. All candidates hold journeyman-level qualifications equivalent to four years and six months of formal trade education and apprenticeship training in Scandinavia plus solid on-site experience. Workers arrive on Working Holiday Visas (subclass 417), requiring no employer sponsorship, allowing businesses to hire tradespeople directly as employees or subcontractors just like local workers.

Founded in 2023, ScandiMate appeared on the Danish Shark Tank television show (Lions Den) and secured investment from Jesper Buch (founder of JustEat/MenuLog) and Morten Larsen (founder of Hungry.dk, sold to Delivery Hero). The company operates a no-fit-no-fee model where employers pay only if candidates pass a four-week trial period on site. ScandiMate positions itself as fundamentally different from labour-hire middlemen, enabling direct employer-worker relationships whilst maintaining quality assurance through expert vetting and training.
