Redherd was established in early 2017 as a boutique technical recruitment operation, evolving from contract recruiting work with various agencies including RedBlue Security. The company underwent a significant transformation in 2020, adopting a fresh identity and strategic direction focused on low-traffic, high-yield talent sourcing. Founded by Charles Wroth, Redherd was inspired during B Sides 2019, a community-run security conference in Cape Town, South Africa, where the founder recognised the opportunity to connect talented professionals in the tech scene with appropriate opportunities locally and globally.

Redherd specialises in recruiting for cyber security, development, engineering, and agriculture sectors. Within cyber security, the company sources security consultants, red teamers, SOC analysts, penetration testers, and cyber threat intelligence analysts. The development team recruits DevOps engineers, software architects, DevSecOps engineers, and lead software engineers. Engineering recruitment covers civil engineers, mechanical engineers, project and site managers, and executive positions including CEOs, CFOs, CTOs, COOs, and CISOs. In agriculture, Redherd sources logistics professionals, harvesters, farm managers, farming consultants, and seasonal skilled labour.
