It was started in 2012 by founder and CEO Phillipa Geard, who was motivated by skilled mothers leaving the workplace because of inflexible work practices. The company describes itself as women owned.

It recruits across industries and role types, from specialist and operational positions to senior leadership and executive appointments. Its talent network spans finance, marketing, sales, property, operations, logistics, technology, healthcare, education and human resources. Services cover permanent and fixed-term contract hires, independent contractors, virtual assistants and fractional senior leaders such as a CFO, CMO or COO, for in-office, hybrid and remote work. It also offers verification and background checks and psychometric and skills tests.

RecruitMyMom serves all regions of South Africa and global clients in Africa, Europe, the USA and Australia. It says it works with more than 6,000 businesses globally. It also publishes the Working Women in South Africa report, with editions for 2024, 2025 and 2026. RAG Talent is a division of the company.
