Preferred Care

Preferred Care is a nurse-owned and nurse-led nursing agency based in Loganholme, Queensland. It was founded in 2020 by registered nurse Candice Thompson, and the business is family-owned with her husband Luke. It began with a focus on aged care and now works across the wider healthcare sector.

The agency supplies registered nurses, enrolled nurses, AINs and PCWs to aged care facilities, public and private hospitals and community healthcare settings. Its employer services include permanent and temporary placements, travel nursing and international nurses. Nurses choose their own shifts, and the agency says it pays above the national award. It says every nurse is vetted in-house through screening and a face-to-face interview. It also runs a mentoring program for graduate registered and enrolled nurses.

Preferred Care works across South East and Rural Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria, including Brisbane, the Gold Coast, the Sunshine Coast, Sydney and Melbourne. Facilities and nurses use an online portal and members app to request and accept shifts.
