Harcourt Matthews

Harcourt Matthews is a recruitment firm founded in 1998 by husband and wife Guy Matthews and Helen Shearman, and based in London. It provides recruitment solutions within legal and professional services, and describes itself as a small boutique firm with a global client base.

The firm began by recruiting in qualified finance and accounting in London and the Home Counties, then added functions such as HR, IT and project management. Its disciplines are C-Suite and directors, project management and PMO, innovation, change and transformation, legal project management, legal technology and AI, legal operations, finance and accounting, and eDiscovery. After its first hire outside the UK, it went on to recruit across Europe, the US, South America, Asia and Australia, often for companies expanding into new territories.

The founders retired and a management buyout passed ownership to long-serving employees Heather Allen and Mark Ostrowski. The company reports supporting 400 clients and 6,000 jobs, and hiring in 10 countries. Shortlisted candidates are interviewed and given feedback throughout the process.
