Robert Darby, Managing Director of GBS Recruitment, collaborates with employers and industry leaders across Gippsland and Melbourne’s South East, specialising in strategic and tailored recruitment solutions for private and public sectors. He has extensive recruitment and management experience in the UK and Melbourne. After moving permanently to Gippsland in 2009, Robert joined GBS, bringing fresh and innovative ideas. He became an Accredited Professional Recruiter and later an Associate Member (MRCSA). He also holds a Diploma of Human Resource Management. In 2015, Robert became a partner at GBS, and by 2020 he and Rachael Newton had fully purchased the business from its founder. Rachael Newton, Recruitment Director of GBS Recruitment, works with employers and industry leaders across Gippsland and Melbourne’s South East to provide strategic and highly customised recruitment solutions for business across the private and public service sectors. Rachael believes that the best business outcomes are achieved by staff who are truly passionate about what they do. As such, her approach to recruiting staff, both within her business and on behalf of her clients, is strongly focused on hiring for organisational fit as well as technical competency. Her success in recruitment has resulted in the development of a substantial network of the region’s top talent. Rachael is an Associate Member of the Recruitment & Consulting Services Association, which is the peak body for the employment industry. MRCSA is only secured after a minimum of seven years relevant, recent and ongoing private recruitment industry experience. Rachael also has extensive professional experience recruiting across the Gippsland Region. Having commenced her career in 2002 with GBS Recruitment, Rachael was trained by the founder of the business and it was at this time that she developed a passion for creating inspired relationships with clients, candidates and the Gippsland Community. In 2019 Rachael became an equal share partner of GBS Recruitment and she employs meticulous oversight of every aspect of GBS’s business, ensuring a positive client and candidate experience from first contact via our friendly reception staff, through to ensuring workplace safety and the payment of wages for our significant workforce. Vicki is a highly experienced finance and payroll professional with a strong background in accounts management, business support, and administration and bookkeeping across a diverse range of industries, including energy, transport, and corporate services. She holds an Advanced Diploma in Accounting and Business, bringing both technical expertise and practical insight to financial management. At GBS Recruitment, Vicki manages all internal finances, oversees the end-to-end labour hire pay run, manages HRIS processes and provides payroll services to clients, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and award interpretation are applied at every stage. She also supports our Safety and Injury Management Specialist with all aspects of WorkCover and injury management administration. With extensive expertise in payroll, award interpretation, reconciliations, vendor management, and process improvements, Vicki is known for her attention to detail, organisational strength, and collaborative approach. She delivers practical, client-focused solutions that keep payroll, compliance, and finance processes running seamlessly for both GBS and its clients.

With deep connections across the Gippsland region, Liam is well known in the local business community through his involvement in industry and sport. He is a highly skilled recruitment professional specialising in finance, accounting, professional services, manufacturing, and both local and state government sectors. Liam works closely with clients to understand their specific workforce needs, delivering tailored recruitment solutions that reliably attract the right candidates. Experienced in both labour hire and permanent recruitment, he understands the daily staffing challenges businesses face and is well equipped to provide sustainable, outcomes-driven solutions.
