EMS broadcast is a recruitment company specialising in the broadcast industry, supplying professionals to media companies. It fills individual roles and entire project teams on a permanent, contract or freelance basis, and also works with candidates looking for broadcast roles. Its specialist areas include broadcast technology, production and post production, operations, studio and OB, scheduling, digital, VOD, IT telecoms, talent support and immersive technologies. It says its people have a combined experience of over 100 years in broadcasting.
The company began in 1993 as EMS (Electronic Media Systems), a broadcast systems integration business formed by four former ITN engineers. Its recruitment arm, EMS broadcast, was formed in 1998 by Dermot and Phil to run alongside the systems integration work. In 2008 the company stopped taking on systems integration projects to focus fully on broadcast recruitment. Since 2018 it has added an operations, post production and creative team to its technical side. It reports having gained preferred supplier status with 14 major broadcasters in 2014 and 2015.
