BWD is a recruitment consultancy that works only in financial services. It says it has been solely focused on financial services recruitment since it was established in 2006. Alistair Brownlee is its founder and a director, James Walker is Managing Director, and the company is based in Leeds.

It recruits through divisions covering wealth management, pensions and investment, actuarial, and regulatory, risk and compliance, plus a global markets division that places trading and investment staff in the hedge fund and banking sector. Each consultant focuses on a single division, and roles are permanent and contract. Its services include contingent hiring, multiple-hire campaigns, temporary and contract hiring, market intelligence, and a separate service for IFA and wealth businesses aiming to sell.

BWD also publishes salary calculators for roles including financial planners and paraplanners, a financial planner earnings census based on a survey of 300 UK advisers and planners, and a financial services podcast. It reports that 80% of its clients have worked with it for over a decade and that its team has over 150 years of combined recruitment experience.
